Estou curioso para ver como se comportará os membros do país sede na escolha de sua chave. Por serem promotores, têm direito a escolher a chave em que desejam jogar na primeira fase. Ao longo dos anos tenho acompanhado com bastante interesse essa escolha, pois denota, por parte de quem escolhe, a chave que considera mais fácil para avançar. Aguardemos!

In total 24 teams from all continents – twelve men’s and twelve women’s teams have qualified for the V IHF Beach Handball World Championship. The tournament will be played from 8 to 13 July at Al Musannah Sports City in Oman, the venue of the Asian Beach Games 2010. Players and spectators cannot only expect superb venue conditions, but real summer. The match days of the World Championship will start at 18:00 local time and will last until the late evening.
The World Championship includes in total 112 games, 56 in the men’s and 56 in the women’s tournament. Both tournaments start with two groups of the Preliminary Round with six teams each, followed by the Main Round, Placement Matches, Semi-Finals and Finals on 13 July.
The draw for the Preliminary Round groups of this event will take place on Monday 14 May at 19:30 hrs local (+4 hrs UTC/GMT, 17:30 hrs CET), at the Shangri La Hotel in Muscat, Oman.
Brazil (men) and Norway (women) had qualified directly as the defending champions after winning the 2010 finals in Antalya, Turkey. Aside the men’s team of organizer Oman qualified directly, whilst Singapore received a wild card for the women’s tournament. All other participants qualified by their respective continental championship.

Pot 1: Brazil, Croatia
Pot 2: Russia, Egypt
Pot 3: Spain, Ukraine
Pot 4: Oman, Qatar
Pot 5: Uruguay, Morocco
Pot 6: Kuwait, Australia
Regulations for the draw:
Not more than two teams from Europe and Asia can be drawn in the same group, and not more than one team from Africa and Pan-America can be drawn in the same group.
After the pots 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 have been drawn, organizer Oman can choose their group.
Women’s tournament:
Pot 1: Norway, Croatia
Pot 2: Brazil, Denmark
Pot 3: Italy, Hungary
Pot 4: China, Thailand
Pot 5: Uruguay, Poland
Pot 6: Singapore, Australia

No more than three teams from Europe can be drawn in the same group, no more than two teams from Asia can be drawn in the same group, no more than one team from Pan-America can be drawn in the same group.
